Delayed Reckoning

Today would have been the day of reckoning for one chocolate city mayor. New Orleans Mayor Ray Nagin postponed the mayoral election until September 30, 2006 in the futile hope he could lure enough voters back to the Big Easy. He has instituted free wireless internet, and he has skewed the statistics of continued random looting with 21-K designations to obscure those crimes. He has ignored the growing pothole sinkhole problem. Mr. Nagin needs to accept the fact that he cannot save his ass this time. He will be washed away into history by Katrina as surely as the 9th Ward and Storyville.

  2. There are many who would gladly assume leadership in the rebuilding of New Orleans if the politicians would step aside.

There is just to much money to be made under the table on this endeavor. Those in power do not want to lose that opportunity.
