Summer Lightning

There were occasional flashes of summer lightning in the sky as I glided through the neighborhood on the Raleigh Grand Prix tonight. An alley way reverberated with the noise of some kids firing off bottlerockets and firecrackers. Tomcats scurried across the hazily lit streets and back into the cover of darkness. It was a relatively cool night, not sultry like usual, and the sweat wicked off me efficiently. There was a wildness in the air, and it was good.
