I see no mainspring or grip safety. Is one of them being replaced?

Looks kinda like My Systema Colt. Mine needed a trigger job and a new drop in barrel. It won't shoot one hole groups at 25 yards but it will shoot.

Hmm...

1911-style pistol components. I recognize:
-Slide
-Safety lever
-Hammer
-Trigger
-magazine release button
-mainspring housing

No idea what the other two are.

Arched main spring housing, low-profile sights, nubbin thumb safety - M1911A1. Maybe it's just the angle but the slide looks a tad short so I'll say Commander model. However, I can't make out the symbol that has been stamped on the slide. Is it some type of WWII victory commemorative model?

You have it because you purchased it. It is a good thing because a 1911 cannot be a bad thing :)

Safety lock, slide lock, magazine release, sear, disconnect, trigger, mainspring housing with landyard loop, and slide is what is in the picture. I am guessing you are getting ready to do some gunsmithing although it is a good ideal to detail strip the weapon once in a while to clean it.

Have you replaced the mainspring housing and related parts on a Springfield to eliminate the ILS (Internal Locking System)?

It appears you salvaged the remains from the decades old roswell crash site, and that is significant because you obtained proof that the 1911 design is so superior, that even the extra terrestrial civilizations have been using it. Not only that, but it is a clear case that infinitely advanced beings have open and legitimate allowance of their free citizens to keep and bear arms. The second amendment appears to be universal after all. Don't sell it on ebay yet, the men in black suits might come after you!

I can't tell by the pic, but I have a sneaking suspicion it might be a .38 Super Latin American, definitely shows recent-ish use.
