Two sheriff deputies are hospitalized after a deadly shootout in Faulkner County. Authorities say a deranged lover armed with a shotgun was shot and killed at his ex-girlfriend’s home. The home is located on Hazen lane, in southern Faulkner County. It happened about two in the morning.

Officers say, Christopher Tindoll, an ex-boyfriend, got into a fight with his ex-girlfriend’s new boyfriend, John Sides Jr. Tindoll left livid, but would return 30 minutes later. This time he came with a shotgun. Faulkner County Sheriff Deputies tried to stop him, but he stormed inside. The authorities followed. That's when deputies say, Tindoll turned and fired, shooting both the deputies. Deputy Wesley Martin and Sgt. Jason Bell were hit in the abdominal region with bird shot. The deputies returned fire and hit Tindoll. Tindoll then turned and continued down the hallway to the bedroom, where the ex-girlfriend and new boyfriend were.

However the boyfriend was armed with his own handgun. He shot Tindoll in the chest. He was pronounced dead on the scene.

Jon Noble, a neighbor, heard the commotion and came outside. He says he heard Tindoll shouting. "I seen the blue lights. And they (the police) are down there hollering at the fellow, calling him by name, telling him, 'don't do that. Don't do that. Put the gun down and this other stuff.' he (Tindoll) says, he is not going to put his gun down. He has messed up pretty good. And he is going to continue to mess up. I guess they followed him into the house. The next thing I hear is, bang, bang, bang, bang."

Both Wesley Martin and Sgt. Jason Bell should make a full recovery. The boyfriend John Sides Jr., we are told, will not face any criminal charges. Authorities say he may have saved the lives of everyone in that home.

Will not face criminal charges?
May have saved the lives of everyone there?

Give me a break. If it had not been for Mr. Side's firearm, there would have been 4 dead bodies and a killer on the loose. There could not be a better example of why a man should carry a gun and choose his women carefully.

It's even worse than that. According to this blog there were also three kids in the house. The body count probably would have been even higher.

The real howler is this quote:

"We applaud their bravery, and their quick action no doubt resulted in saving the residents of the home," he said.

Ummm... using ineffective non-lethal rounds against someone wielding a shotgun and then getting shot is not how to save the residents. I think someone has this backward.
