Idiots with Guns #17

Two riflemen, and two archers apply for a merit badge in stupidity. Happy Birthday Boy Scouts.

The purpose of Idiots with Guns is not to humiliate, but to educate. Over the years we have seen photos of people who, upon picking up a gun, just cannot resist pointing it at something they should not, with their finger on the trigger. This is usually the camera, another person, or themselves. These photos are often difficult to google up, because of the pages they are shown on. If you have archived any of these photos, feel free to send them in to bayouroversATjamDOTrrDOTcom

The Four Rules
1. All firearms are loaded
2. Never let the muzzle of a firearm point at anything you are not willing to destroy
3. Keep your finger off the trigger unless your sights are on the target
4. Be sure of your target and what is behind it

Speaking as a part-time Scout leader and former Scout: What a bunch of idiots!

Xavier, you don't happen to know where this picture was taken, do you? (Unfortunately, the resolution is low enough that I can't make out any insignia aside from a "Troop 180" patch.) I'm all for the "educate, not humiliate" approach, but someone needs to send these folks a nastygram before they get someone hurt. Given the age of the Scouts involved, the full uniforms, and the background, I have a really ugly suspicion that these fools work on a Summer camp staff.

PS: anonymous, your experience with the BSA is a little different than mine. I distinctly recall having a grizzled ex-Marine sniper as a Rifle Shooting merit badge instructor when I was a young Scout...
