NOLA Gun Confiscation Town Hall Meeting

The NRA will be holding a special Town Hall Meeting in New Orleans next week to spotlight and document the plight of the city’s law abiding residents, who were forced to surrender their legally owned firearms in the chaotic aftermath of hurricane Katrina.

Residents who were victims of this injustice are encouraged to attend the meeting and share their stories. This is an opportunity to tell NRA what the City of New Orleans did to trample your Second Amendment rights when you needed them most. NRA Executive Vice President Wayne LaPierre, and NRA-ILA Executive Director Chris W. Cox will host the Town Hall Meeting. Be sure to come out and tell them your story. The Meeting will take place on Tuesday, April 18, at 7:00 p.m., at the New Orleans Marriott Hotel, Salons D & E, 555 Canal Street, New Orleans. For more information please call (877) 292-3637.

The sad thing is that most of these people will never get their property back or be compensated at all. Since their were supposedly no records kept as to the ownership of any of these firearms unless you have documentation of the serial number you will be unable to claim it. And there is likely siginificant damage from "storage".

I believe the object for the NRA and those who had their weapons taken is notthe reclaiming of weapons, but the publicizing of what took place. By keeping this in the news, legislators are threatened and will pass laws preventing it from occuring again. The worst thing that could happen for the NRA's true cause is to get those weapons back. These illegal confiscations needs to stay in the news, front and center.

Where does that leave the individula gun owner? Well, I would gladly give up an over under Browning to insure that no confiscations would ever happenagain, and that those who participated in this one were locked away.
