What The Hell?
It appears firearms confiscations and worse may be afoot in the sunny state of California.
California banned the sale of AK and AR-15 rifles in the year 2000. People who owned so-called "Assault Weapons" prior to the ban were allowed to keep their firearms as ex-post facto laws prevent such things as retroactive gun banning. The State of California, however, required that anyone who had such a rifle prior to the ban undergo a special registration with the California Department of Justice. More recently, California required the registration of 50 BMG rifles by April 30, 2006, after banning their sale and importation.
Surprise! Officers from the Los Angeles County Gun Task Force have now started serving search warrants to residents who
are suspected of holding unregistered "Assault Rifles" including 50 BMG target rifles. This "task force" has reportedly confiscated firearms and issued felony charges on at least one individual who was deemed to be out of compliance. If convicted on a felony, that gun owner will never be allowed to legally own any firearms for the rest of his life.
It is unclear how the Los Angeles County Gun Task Force obtained information that would constitute cause for a search warrant. If the gun owner did not register with the State, how did Los Angeles County know what firearms might be in his possession?

"Of course we don't want to register your guns as a prelude to confiscation!" - Any lying scum bag who claims 'registration' serves to prevent real crime.
The government keeps insisting they have a right to know anything they want about you, despite multiple lapses of security where your data is "lost", "misplaced", or "stolen". Yet they are allowed to keep secrets from YOU, the people.
Can anyone show any time a private citizen lost credit information that could be used to steal the identity of the State of California? (No, people appearing to be nuttier than a fruit cake are NOT stealing California's identity!)
Guess what, California. Next big earthquake? You are all on your own. No help from me. I gave to the people hurt by Katrina and they put Gun Grabbin' Ray back for another term. They can all drown next time.

Not to sound paraniod, but does it bother anybody else that the state that will be first to get hit if China ever decides to launch some crazy ground war against the US is the one with the least amount of militarily viable weapons?
