Separating Potatos from Poachers
Your congressman's vote against HB 1022 is important.
This website will help get a letter to your congressman for you. As gun owners, we must rise up against HB 1022 and defeat it. This is some of the most restrictive anti-gun legislation ever proposed.
Yes, Carolyn McCarthy is a broken record, but we cannot assume this bill will die in committee. If your Representative is on the House Judiciary Committee, you have an excellent chance to help kill this bill right now by contacting your Representative and letting him know of your opposition to the bill. If your congressman is not on the Judiciary Committee, write them anyway. No excuses.
It's time to separate potatoes from poachers. If you fail to contact your congressman, you have nothing to bitch about. Nothing.

HR 1022 is already two weeks old.
I've gotten 40 peoples to write
already!
Some basic info:
This is House of Reps. bill.
You should be writing your US Rep.
If you hate the tedium of districts
zip+4, etc. Use this to find yours:
http://www.visi.com/juan/congress/index.html
Be sure to write your rep at DC
and DISTRICT offices. It doesn't
hurt to write their Chief of Staff
too!
The old AWBsunset site has a decent
basis for a letter.
Be sure to change the dates!

Write to McCarthy too, just so she
knows she's not going to sneak it!
It is also a good idea to write
Rick Boucher of the House Judiciary
Committe. He's a democrat, but
generally pro-gun. His info is:

Thanks for the warning and the easy to use email link. I wrote my representative. We've got to stop this one as Bush has already said that he would sign it if crosses his desk.
(I apologize if this is a double-post. I had a problem logging in for some reason when I submitted this comment.)
I support your right to own guns. I support it mostly because it increases the odds that you will kill yourself or your children in a gun accident.
And face it, every time a gun nut, or the child of a gun nut, dies, the world becomes a better place.
So please keep buying assault rifles and hollowpoint ammo. And I will keep laughing at your gun and hunting accidents.
Sure, most of you will live. But I'll piss on the rest of your graves.
Anonymous,
Are you SERIOUS? You CAN'T be. No feeling human being could make a statement like that. No, just no. Frankly, sir, if you are serious then you have a serious problem, maybe you are even a sociopath who masquerades as something else, but you most definatly are not a human being with any kind of moral compass, conscience, or even a sense of ethics. That is perhaps the most horrid statment that I have ever read and I am unsurprised to find it signed "anonymous" because I certainly wouldn't want to take credit for that, and I am sure most of your friends wouldn't be very happy if they read that.
Why, you ask? Because I can almost guarantee that your friends are the kind of poeple who actually care about people and would be horrified to read "every time the child of a gun nut dies.." What if I went on one of your, likely insane, blogs and typed "every time one of your children dies, the world becomes a better place." You, sir, would likely call for my blood. I,sir, happen to be one of those gun nuts about which you speak, and I have to tell you that thinking about such things brings tears to my eyes, and I feel only pity for a child that would be raised by someone such as yourself; obviously so devoid of human compassion and morality.
Simply, you ought to be ashamed of yourself and your actions on this posting board, sir. You ought to be TRULY ashamed if you do such things and then think of yourself as a "good" person.
To be fair, I suspect that you are nothing but an instigator attempting to get some kind of blood fued running on this pro-gun site so you will have nasty horrible things to cull from it and post as proof that we are terrible human beings who choose to go armed. But in a world with people like you in it, who would like nothing more than to see some of us dead, can you blame us for wanting to go armed? Can you, sir?
In closing, I will not call for your blood, but I WILL call you out. I want you to post your comment again, with your NAME attached this time, and with an email address where comments can be sent to take you up on your irresponsable and reprehensible statements. Yes, I'm calling YOU out. C'mon, give me a place to debate you openly in public forum. I DARE you.....no? Can't say I'm surprised, as only a coward would, as I am loath to reprint here, "piss on the rest of your graves" for I can imagine no more cowardly and disgusting act than to desecrate the dead.
Good day, sir.
Hey, how did Hillary Clinton get in here???
Seriously, though, Xavier, great job putting together the contact information and sample letters; let's hope as many letters get sent as emails about the Zumbo suicide...jtc
Anonymous has a more vicious attitude than the gunners I know. good thing he is anti-2A. I would suggest anger management.
Thanks Xavier,
You could also let people know that real letters are most effective, but because of the anthrax attacks, they take the longest to arrive. If possible, fax your letter in first, and then mail it. Every fax is worth about ten emails.
Wow, somebody got a little too much Kool-Aid. Don't let facts get in your way, skippy!
My letter to Rep. Meehan hit the USPS early last week. Of course he's quite the moonbat, who is just as much a fan of the 2A as the poster above me.
Still better to speak on deaf ears than to not speak at all.
-Weer'd
Wow, I wish Mr. Anonymous could experience what a gun banned society is like. Please go study the current crime rates in GB.
Hey Xavier, thanks for posting that link, my rep now knows my thoughts and will from now on. Please make that link a weekly or monthly post. Maybe it will catch on with other bloggers in the community.
Thanks for making this so easy with the links to find your congressman's web site, address and phone number. I called my Rep's office in DC, to ask his position on this bill. They didn't know, but took my name and immediately told me my address (?) and said I would receive a reply. I followed it up with an e-mail on his website, and again, was told I'd get a response. I just need to get others to do the same.
As for the poster saying he'll piss on our graves, tell ya what, buddy. I have a free service that I'm sure you'll appreciate, since you are so firm in your beliefs. I'll come place a large sign in your yard, no charge, to proclaim to all the world:
The occupant of this house firmly supports gun control and this house is guaranteed to be 100% gun-free.
Just give me your address, and I'll help you loudly proclaim your beliefs to everyone in your neighborhood. Or, would that make you just a bit nervous, knowing that all the bad guys in your neighborhood, or the ones from other neighborhoods casing your house know you're a ready-made victim, er uh, unarmed? It's never been lost on me that Sen. Diane Feinstein, gun-control posterchild, has a concealed carry permit. I guess "Guns for me, but not for thee" would be here motto.

"I support your right to own guns. I support it mostly because it increases the odds that you will kill yourself or your children in a gun accident."
Oh, anonymous, you CARD ! Stop it ! You're so BAD ! ***giggle***
My isn't that third comment the sign of a stable and honorable citizen?
Xavier, I called and wrote my congressman today.
Too bad I am in Massachusetts, and my Congressman is Barney Frank, and not on our side.
I could also write to my two senators, Kennedy and Kerry,.... Oppps, forget that!
Well I wrote anyway, and Mr Frank generally replies to my letters and phone calls with polite but discouraging letters.
I can hope, but I don't expect anything different this time.

Looks like you have an anonymous idjit...
I've written to my representative.
Anomymous, of course, is a craven coward.
I write my congresscritter regularly, and in my latest post, I Hat-tipped Xavier. Thanks for reminding me.
My misrepresentatives are Feinstein, Boxer, and Pelosi, and when I write to them they write back thanking me for my "support" - I have never written to them in support of any position they have taken. They have taken me out of the fight.
Sent a few for Indiana.
Thanks for the info and the templates.
I'm considering heading to the local shop to put a few items on Lay-Away just in case.
Call me ignorant but how long does it take for a Bill to process?
