The S&W Lock

  1. Scandium-Aluminum, and in fact ALL Aluminum alloys suffer from a fundamental difference from Steel. There is NO level of repeated stress that will not eventually result in fatigue failure in Aluminum. Steel if stressed at a fraction (generally about 10%) of it's yield stress repeatedly will never fail due to fatigue. The same is not true of aluminum. This behavior is unique to Aluminum Alloys. This is the reason why I am always leery of an aluminum framed gun.

    Not S&W, cheap pistol and so on, but for someone who knows Murphy law isn't there to be laughed about but to learn from it, this will be good read.
