A Nurse with a Gun
Xavier is a Registered Nurse who specialized in complex wound care. He has practiced for over fourteen years in his community. He often provided nursing service in areas where law enforcement refused to enter without back-up. Xavier now works in surgery. Xavier has been an avid shooter for over 30 years. He strongly supports the 2nd Amendment, opposes gun control of any sort, and carries a weapon 24 hours a day. Xavier is known on various internet gun forums as XavierBreath. He is married with three children, and is moderated by an apathetic one eyed cat, a goofy Golden Retriever, and a stalwart German Shepherd Dog. One day, he hopes to be deserving of them all.

That is by far my favorite Python skit. Absolutely brilliant.
Hey Xavier I have a SW question for you. What would be the manufacture date of a model 15 with a pinned barrel but does not have the recessed cylinder? After yrs of reading your blog I took the plunge today and bought one for target shooting. I've been a confirmed Ruger fan all my life. But at the range today I'm starting to see what you like about the k frames.
Probably my all-time-favorite Monty Python sketch.

Hi Matt! Welcome to the world of blue and walnut!
A Model 15 is a .38 special gun, and therefore never was recessed. only magnums and .22LR cylinders were recessed.
The Model number appeared in 1957, the barrel pinning disappeared in 1982, so that's a wide span. Give your serial with the last two digits X'ed out, and I can be more specific.
The serial # is 17K38XX. Good brand name revolvers around here go a little higher than they do in your part of the country. I think a paid a little to much for it. I gave 360.00 for it but it shows no wear on the bluing and it locks up tight. I ran it through the 5 step check and the cylinder gap runs a snug .004. It shoots great so it looks like its a keeper. Thanks for the info
1977 Matt.
Yeah, $360 would be a bit high here, but the gun is worth that. Hell, it's worth twice that! The price is low because they are relatively plentiful compared to the demand.
Enjoy your gun, and don't worry about what you paid. You will get five times that out of it in enjoyment and grins, plus the bonus of looks of envy as you blast bullseyes at the range.
