After Heath Maddox's father died unexpectedly in 2006, Maddox was clearing out his dad's belongings when he found a surprise: a U.S. military-issued .45-caliber handgun wrapped in a towel and tucked into a kitchen drawer.
Maddox vaguely recalled a story about his grandfather owning the gun, but he wasn't sure why, or how, it turned up in his father's kitchen.OK Mr. Ricker........It's perfectly fine to shoot somebody who is trying to kill you. Who the hell are you to judge a person that has been forced to use a handgun to preserve their life against an animalistic sub-human bent on snuffing the life from their body? That makes the victim of crimes morally........Alive. Handguns save far more lives than they take. Period. Dumbass.
Yet on a recent Friday evening, two years after the discovery, Maddox stood inside artist John Ricker's San Francisco studio, ready to smash the gun flat with a sledgehammer. "My uncle wanted to keep it in the family," said Maddox, a planner in the city's transportation agency, before he delivered the first blow. "But I knew about John and what he does with guns. ... I wanted it destroyed."
"If you have a gun, you have to envision who you're going to kill," Ricker said. "I want people to think about who they think it's OK to shoot, and where that puts them morally."

After reading their site, I could not believe how biased it was, and how blindsighted all their arguments were. Honestly, I was used to anti-gun arguments to be more "open minded", what liberal thinking claims to be, but wow, that site totally kills it. "Assault weapons are loved by hate groups and criminals".. yea, especially because you idiots banned us from having any to defend ourselves with them, dumbass.

There is only one word for such a man: Vandal, actually nevermind, I have a few more: Defiler, rapist, destroyer of history. He's no different from any other Nazi, Communist, or Facist who destroyed historic books that didn't agree with their ideology. This is sickening.
I was pleasantly surprised at the number of comments against what he did. Not that all of them came from CA, but maybe there is hope.

This is the first paragraph that one sees upon going to this "artist's" website. After Reading it, I tried to speak but only little croaking sounds came out. I was literally dumbfounded. Especially amazing is the "guns create hate" crack. How can a hunk of metal and, recently, plastic create hate? Doesn't hate come from the hearts of people? Don't people like, apparently, this "Artist" fall cleanly into that category when they hate guns? Just a thought
What an idiot. Does this dillhole have other sites dedicated to melting knives, burning baseball bats, chopping off peoples' bare hands, etc.? Rumor has it that people have been murdered by these objects as well.
Sheesh, it was already a piece of art without him messing it up!

He repeats a lot of the same nonsense IANSA does, too. They refuse to acknowledge that sometimes a citizen only has to show the criminal that he's armed and they disengage to look for weaker prey.
But sometimes not, and the citizen is forced to shoot in self-defense to stop the threat.
Funny, I've lots of guns and I don't run about visualizing who to off. Perhaps there's an issue with anger management and projection here?
Ah, after re-reading it, I see he works in San Francisco. That explains a lot. And the need to be the first to "smash the bad thing" reminds me of a few people I've known. They tend to punch inanimate objects for having the chutzpah to cause pain when walked into. I'm sure he's fun to hang out with.

That's a favorite trick of Anti-Gunners, name off all the bad stuff, but omit the good things. I'd say a vast majority of the life saving painkillers used today could be vilified that way. But why would you NEED Morphine?
In the long run one can only take a deep sigh, and perhaps re read "payback..."
How come all the gun laws that the rest of us need to obey don't apply to anti-gunners? How does this guy accumulate all the handguns that he destroys, in California no less? It seems to me that there is something wrong here.

After 911 the majority of Americans are waking up and realizing that they have to take responsibility for their own safety. Just look at all the states coming around to legal concealed carry. You know that saying, when seconds count the police are just minutes away. You better have something available immediately for your use, when you need it, preferably something that goes bang. This guy is living in a dream world and it's his right if he wishes. However, one good mugging,beating,holdup,etc. that's close to home and he could change the way he thinks.
Nice way to denigrate your uncle's service, jerk. I'm sure your family's very proud of you.

Yeah, let's think for a second about the people it's OK to shoot:
Anyone trying to kill me or mine, or abduct same, or seriously assault same, sexually or otherwise, with either bare hands or a deadly weapon... Yup, I feel perfectly morally at ease with that...and if he doesn't, then he deserves to be defenseless when someone bigger, stronger and better armed (say, with a stick, or a rock or a knife, or just bigger muscles) ...they don't call guns "equalizers" for nothing.
With or without a gun, hate is in the human heart, along with envy, lust, greed, etc. And knives, bats, cars, thumbs, ropes, fireplace pokers, hammers and many other things can be used to express that hate by killing someone.
Ricker, I want you to think about something, too...If you and your own family are not worth defending, then maybe in the bigger scheme of things you aren't meant to survive in the genepool, dude.
