Hmmmmmmm........ This looks interesting. The Cimarron Plinkerton in .22LR. Cimarron has an excellent reputation for quality single action Army type revolvers. I own three of Cimarron revolvers, and they are all excellent handguns. I'm not really a cowboy gun fan, but at $154.70 MSRP, it's grabbed my attention.
I might have to darken the door of a gun store and take a look see. I wonder if it's pot metal junk.....
if you pick one up do post a review.
ReplyDeleteI have shot one several times. In my opinion, it is a delight to shoot. The only thing that I didn't like about it is the very slow brass removal/reloading procedure.
ReplyDeleteYes, do let us know. It's not that I'm desperate to go cheap on my gun purchases, but it's nice to know affordable models I can use to build my collection, being a noobie shooter and whatnot.
ReplyDelete"very slow brass removal/reloading procedure" - weclcome to single action shooting - tough to avoid that.
ReplyDeleteDon't think I could shoot anything named Cimarron. It has nothing to do with the gun, just the fact that the name Cimarron is now unfortunately forever associated with bad apartment buildings and a ho-hum restaurant in Elko, NV in my mind.
ReplyDeleteAh, the memories.... :P
You might also look at the Heritage Rough Rider. Similarly priced and fun to shoot.
ReplyDeleteIt *could* make you think of the Cadillac Cimarron, a re-badged Chevy Cavalier...
ReplyDeleteBe interesting to see the review, Xavier. IMHO, the price difference between that gun new and a gently-used Ruger Single Six isn't enough to justify going "off-brand"...
cute almost a ruger bearcat, but like the others had said:"slow reloading and extraction of fired cases"
ReplyDeleteMy mainline 22LR is a heavy as hell 8 and 3/4 S7W 617,the trigger on it is excellent.it fires and extracts quickly(I even broke down and got some HKS speedloaders for it)
druthers...it's only a SIX shot(Yes I know they made an eight shot version,I'll just buy that one as well)
NOTE I'LL PURCHASE A SHORTER BARREL,this almost nine inch barrel gun is a tank.
yes,it's a K frame, but with so much metal on the smaller bore size...whoof,I start with that and my 6inch model 28 357 feels light.
I understand some like to reenact such as the SASS(Single action shooter society)guys.
but I like to have a faster reload, and the more modern(semi auto pistols/swing out cylindar revolvers) seem to find the nitch I like.
I'd really love to find a nice clean old H&R nine shot, they broke open like a webley and dumped ALL the spent cartridges out,all in one fell swoop.
Woof! At that price even if a little trigger work is needed...
ReplyDeleteNow if they'll add some .22 call top break S&W look-a-likes they'll really be cooking on gas.

ReplyDeleteYes, do post a review if you darken that door and lighten your wallet.I've already got a little NM Bearcat, but I could always use another .22 SA.
Nature, I've got that nine-shot H&R; it's just taking up space in my mini-safe. How much are you willing to spend?
