Hellerbration

In spite of being on call this weekend, after I finished with the scheduled cases today, I was able to have a small Hellerbration. While I did not have a Barrett 50 cal, I did try to have a representative sampling of the firearms a citizen would commonly own as a toast to a majority in SCOTUS.

"I happen to believe that this is now going to open the door to litigation against every gun safety law that states have passed – assault weapons bans, trigger locks, and all the rest of it."
Senator Dianne Feinstein

Right.

Nice assortment you have on display but I was surprised to see the AR. I would have thought it to be too much of a wiz-bang gun for your taste. I like them a lot so I am glad to see one in your collection …..

Nice arrangement. I certainly consider the Heller ruling a splendid outcome and I can't wait to make my second visit to the NRA's lovely indoor range this summer.

That said, the District of Columbia has announced that they will continue to ban semiautomatic handguns.

As of this posting, I've yet to access the Metropolitan Police Department's website to get more concrete information on what exactly is eligible for registration in the District. I see what the article I linked claims is the definition, but in true journalistic fashion there's no citation.

I'm wondering if other cities with handgun bans will, in the face of lawsuits stemming from DC v Heller, continue to ban semiautomatics.

How do we interpret the self-defense use for firearms to obtain a guarantee that the right of the People to keep and bear 1911s shall not be infringed? It's a battle for another day, to be sure, but probably one not too far off as the antis scramble to hold ground.

My Hellerbration was to go down to AGP arms and pick up one of the "Cav-Aid 2008" lowers.
