100 Year Blossoms

The Century plants out front are blooming great masses of flowers that resemble white banana peppers.

They say these yucca type plants bloom once in 100 years, thus the name.

Its more like every 7 to 10 years that they bloom, but I guess Century plant sounds better than decade plant.

Yeah. It does bloom once in a lifetime. But its lifetime, which is apparently only 7 to 20 years.

Mine have bloomed twice. Once last year and again this year.
Very pretty.

Hate to break it to you, but that's not a century plant. The leaves and stalk aren't right. It looks like some kind of yucca.
