I was hoping you would put up a post about Heller's new lawsuit. He was one of the first people in line to register his gun, but could not do so since D.C. considers the semi-automatic pistol that he carries on duty (not sure what brand) to be a "machinegun" and therefore not able to be registered.
In addition, they have once again inserted wording that requires a gun kept in the home to be unloaded and disassembled, locked or kept in a safe, unless the homeowner feel that he or she might be in immediate danger in which case it can be assembled, unlocked or removed from the safe and loaded for deployment.
Heller's attorney commented that a home invader would have to make an appointment ahead of time in order for a gun kept for self defense to be useful.
The other great aspect that Heller II pushes is the 'poll tax' approach - this could be big in areas like MA and NYC.
He cites the need to pay a fee set by the PD, with no limit set as to how high that fee can be raised.
Good for Heller to stick to his guns (pun intended). He's doing the heavy lifting for the rest of us.
This said, D.C. is a hell-hole, but the people who run it have been democratically elected. If they are victims of crime and vote to be disarmed, it's Darwinism at its finest. Once enough liberals have been mugged, maybe the conservatives will start winning elections :-)
If I were in Heller's shoes, I'd have moved to better climates a long time ago. But again, I tip my hat to the guy.
I've been thinking about this. Heller 1 speaks on the right to own a firearm, when are they going to address the issue of bearing it?

Aside from the "poll tax" issue noted earlier, couldn't this be reported to the Supreme Court as a case of contempt of court since the "new law same as the old law" to mangle and paraphrase The Who. Because if this is a separate and new lawsuit, then we have to wend our way back through the court system again and HOPE that the Supreme court decides to grant certori. This could take YEARS.
