That's a funky lookin' gun! What is it?

What is that?

It looks like a one-off bullpup M-14 with a trigger designed to be shielded, yet still able to be fired by someone in mittens. Oh yea, with a can too.

Butt-ugly for sure, but maybe practical. Mittens is the only excuse for the grip I could think of, I don't think I can blame California for this one.

What does everyone else see?

Other than what looks like a suppressor on a custom stock, I'm totally bewildered by this one. Any hints on what it is?

I am trying to figure out just what the heck the thing shoots? Is it an airgun of some kind?

Definitely different. But, it did kill a moose, so you can't fault its practicality.

that is a M-14 with a can and a ASS ugly stock..cool too, like the others said...a sheilded but accessable trigger, bet it was a home build, the grips look like a 1911's......almost.

failing that,it shows an almost exact "PLANET OF THE APES" gunsmithing ability

I think its supposed to be symbolic of how she went down in flames within days and is now in hiding.

Terry,

Really, "down in flames"? Sorry, but I don't think that the Palin ICBM that was unleashed on the Dems has even reached apogee yet on its flight to rain electoral destruction on the best laid plans of the Obamabots.

BTW Xavier, is there any way to verify exactly what action was used to construct that odd futuristic looking contraption?

The filename of the pic hints that it is a FN BAR, but it doesn't look like any BAR I've ever seen.

Those don't look like moose antlers to me.

Is that an open bolt that I see? Could it be a .50 cal.? Look closely and you may see that too....

Is that a legal moose? It's ugly, too.

Looks like it could be one of the bigbore air rifles that are more popular in Europe and Scandinavia than here.
If someone did do that to an M1A or an M14, they need to be bitten by a moose.(Monty Python)

Argh! So what is it already?

The visible part of the bolt and bolt handle (charging handle) are clearly Browning/FN BAR in origin. What's happened to it since then is subject to speculation. My guess is custom bullpup stock, supressor, wierd trigger designed for some specific (and not common) purpose. It is NOT an M1A.
