Gun Hysteria in the MSM

Now that Obama's anti-gun leanings are being touted in the mainstream media, expect more and more hysteria from the television lemmings. Time to leave a few business cards at your local gun store offering to give free lessons on how to use all these new EBRs and handguns.

So, now they're trying to get folks to believe that gun sales are up "because of the bad economy"?

Nice try, MSM.

Gun sales are up DESPITE the bad economy, BECAUSE Obama will be the MOST 2A-HOSTILE president ever.

"Time to leave a few business cards at your local gun store offering to give free lessons on how to use all these new EBRs and handguns."

one of the few pieces of very bad advice i've seen from you, xavier...

big difference between inviting an individual out to the range for some upcloseandpersonal, and promoting training free or otherwise to random strangers.

the potentially catastrophic liability inherent in the business of selling, repairing, or training others in the use of firearms has driven many (myself included) from professional amd into private enjoyment of a great and increasingly critical hobby/discipline.

so, one-on-one with interested people you meet? great. but even with the best of intentions, leaving business cards or otherwise advertising to the general public opens you up to legal and financial ruin.

because you know what the road to hell is paved with.

I love this quote from the article you linked to:

But Peter Hamm, a spokesman for the Brady Campaign to Prevent Gun Violence, called the buying spree "goofy." He said widespread talk of banning guns is a "sales pitch."

"With the glacial speed that we make progress on sensible gun laws, savvy gun consumers should know better than to think they have to rush out and buy guns," Hamm said. Similar surges accompanied the election of Bill Clinton, the last Democratic president, he added.

Uhhh, the Clinton Administration enacted a large gun ban, in case Mr. Hamm forgot.

Does anyone think people are out buying guns just to peaceably turn them in to the government JBTs?

Local 30+ year LEO Instructor (and CHL instructor since they became available) friend has had to go to a CHL class EVERY week instead of one day a month since October. No class openings until mid February as of this week.

Lots of people showing up haven't even had much if any firearms experience but they bought their pistols and range memberships and they are going to get their TX CHL while they still can. Pushed a lot of people from their perches sitting on the fence.

Don't forget, Obama wants a federal law prohibiting "Shall issue" permits even though 48 states have concealed laws.

/me waves one finger of each hand at IL and WI for not having enacted concealed legislation.

I wonder what they want for that Winchester '95 in the background?

So what good does it do people to hurry to purchase firearms models likely to be outlawed; or to get a CPL if they think that they will take them away via federal laws? After all when we purchase guns legally, we get flagged don't we?

Anon: I think the sentiment is along the lines of "Come and get them."
