BOHICA*
Address Gun Violence in Cities: As president, Barack Obama would repeal the Tiahrt Amendment, which restricts the ability of local law enforcement to access important gun trace information, and give police officers across the nation the tools they need to solve gun crimes and fight the illegal arms trade. Obama and Biden also favor commonsense measures that respect the Second Amendment rights of gun owners, while keeping guns away from children and from criminals who shouldn't have them. They support closing the gun show loophole and making guns in this country childproof. They also support making the expired federal Assault Weapons Ban permanent, as such weapons belong on foreign battlefields and not on our streets.Get ready.
*BOHICA- military acronym for "bend over here it comes again."

Here, around ChiTown, we call it "a shit sandwich with extra piss"
Regardless, I think I'm digging on BOHICA...
We have created an entire generation of slaves, who crave the yoke of servatude, and the whip of regulation.
The only bright spot is that the Republican can filibuster, if they only have the cojones to do so.
So, that's why he needs his "Civilian National Defense Force". They will be the ones mining the data base.
"They also support making the expired federal Assault Weapons Ban permanent, as such weapons belong on foreign battlefields and not on our streets."
Do you think they will forbid law enforcement from carrying them through our streets? I sure don't.
God bless!

I dont have a warped liberal mind, so how, exactly, does one MAKE A GUN CHILDPROOF?
What exactly is the "illegal gun trade"?
In some misguided areas of the country when Grandpa leaves his hunting rifle to his Grandson, and it isn't transferred through a dealer, that's "illegal gun trade".
Spent Tuesday and Wednesday listening to Frank Zappa CDs to keep sane.
among the tracks:
"Dong Work For Yuda"
&
"Keep it Greasy"
same sentiment
Yep, I'd say "BOHICA" just about covers it all. Much depends on what the Lord Obama attempts to do in the coming months but over all, you're right - get out the KY because, "Here it comes again..."
Once again, Im shocked at not being shocked, in the way Obama and anti-gunites are twisting the language of the law. Which most Obama-ites will accept as gospel truth.
On the change.gov website, it seems that the Tiahrt Amendment restricts what police officers can look-up as far as gun registries go, when it actually restricts what non-law-enforcement agencies can access.

for more.
We as gun owners need to get the truth out there.
Any ideas?
Making guns childproof. So I will have to screw off one of those annoying caps on medicine bottles before I can pull the trigger?
No, really, a "childproof" gun is in all reality a gun that will fail when needed. It will most likely be too complicated to operate when needed, as motor skills diminish. A childproof gun means you and your children will die when confronted with a deadly encounter.
And as far as "those weapons belong on the battlefield" goes, if that is all the ban encompassed than it would be a small miracle, but it encompasses so much more. And when our Founding Fathers founded this country this was the battlefield.....likewise, during 9/11 this was the battlefield. They act as if the battlefield can not or will not be American soil.

X,
20 January 2009 I will be flying my American flag upside down from dawn to dusk.
Thus flown it represents 'severe distress and the need for assistance'. The date should be self explanatory.
Like minded individuals are encouraged to do the same.

There is one more slender reed of hope: one of the ways the Democrats made gains in Red States is by saying they are not anti-RKBA. Lots of them ran as "pro-gun Democrats," and lots of gun owners bought what they were selling.
If you live in one of these traditionally Red areas that suddenly went Blue, remind your new Congresscritter CONSTANTLY about his/her campaign promise not to mess with your guns. Remind him/her that he got this job, in part, by distancing him/herself from the anti-gun history of the Democrat party, and that a great way to lose that job next time around would be to break word with the gun owners in his/her constituency.
I think you said it best Xavier, take a democrat to the range. Yelling about the 2nd amendment scares the majority away. Digging up dirt on Obama is a waste of time.
I found out that a few guys at work had handguns. They were afraid to let anyone know about it, because they feared being perceived as dangerous, a whako, etc. I went shooting with one of them last week, and I loved it.
Part of the discussion that opened them up regarded your website. Now I feel like you are falling into some tired pattern, and fostering hate and anger. What a waste. Some other liberal "obama-zombie" is ignoring your blog instead of getting into the art of firearms.
Stay on target man, stay positive.

As for childproof guns? We would be better served if we worked to make gun-proof children - of course, they can't bear to say "Eddie Eagle", can they?
X,
Awhile ago you did a post on purchasing ones first 1911. Any chance on doing the same for a AR?
Thanks,
T.
T,
I honestly don't think I know enough about ARs to do that. While I speak from personal experience regarding the 1911, that experience is widely varied, and it's something I studied pretty deeply.
If I were to attempt to do the same with the AR, I would be doing my readers a diservice. The Brownells videos I linked to give a lot of expert info on how to build one. There are many more people out there that give solid recommendations. It seems Colt and Bushmaster are the ones to save up for.
For my money, I would keep things simple, open sighted carbine, with plenty of magazines. Use tactics to gain advantage to use it effectively. Tactics trumps equipment any day of the week.
My two pesos.
