New SW1911 Pistols
The Officer's frame will also be available with a four and a quarter inch slide and barrel in a two tone version with wood grips. Smith is calling this version the SW1911 Compact ES, or extended slide. $1,264.00
Under the cover of non-descript stainless steel, a 9mm Government is available in the Pro Series SW1911. Stippled grips, wiggly slide serrations, and decent front strap checkering.... What's not to like?

The Scandium framed 4.25 inch is not new..... they did that alreadywith the "Gunsite" model.
That frame actually looks kinda purple-ish.

The Gunsite model was a Commander (i.e., a full-size grip). The Officer's model has a shorter grip.
BTW, the Gunsite model I once owned was nice, but wouldn't keep the external extractor pin secured, suffered from a rear sight that was poorly fitted, and eventually wore off the nubbin that kept the grip safety from working correctly. Another thing I thought odd was the front sight (a "gold" bead just like Jeff Cooper would've specified) wasn't dressed down; shame on Smith!

$1,300 MSRP? You have got to be kidding.
Better, but the two-tone is in the reverse order. I hate stainless slides. The slide should be dark.
And the new Dan Wesson still wins in a stand up fight.
Pretty good looking pistol. 1200 buckaroos ? No thanks.
I don't know why Smith prints such crazy prices.
I'm quite happy with my scandium commander, but this is a neat offering.
Now if only they'd start making guns in 10mm....
too much money.
but that seems to be S&W's way of doing things.
