I have wondered about the spread of buckshot and other shot through a rifled barrel, mostly with the 45/410 handguns. I wish, however, that he had had a control of 3 buckshot rounds through a smoothbore for comparison. Or better yet, a bedsheet to actually show the patterns of smoothbore vs rifled.
I'd do it myself, but I don't have a rifled slug barrel, or land.
Thats also a lot futher away than bedroom door to front door in most homes.
Measure your most likely shooting point, and your most likely entry point of a BG and try that. with 00 buck, you get about a 2-3 foot pattern at 30 feet, 18 inch pattern at 20 and about 9 inch at 12 feet.
I reserve the right to not publish ignorant ill-informed and filthy comments from vile cretins who have a four letter vocabulary. Further, anonymous comments with strong opinions and personal attacks may be rejected. If you want to voice a strong opinion, at least have the courage to sign your name to it. You don't even have to use your name, make something up so the next person can address your comment without confusion.
Cool vid.

I hope the shots that didn't hit the target, didn't also go over the berm.

One wonders what the percentage of hits would be when show with a comparable shotgun (probably based on barrel length)from a smooth-bore shotgun.
ReplyDeleteIt's an interesting video, but not terribly authoritative data.
