On proud display by the Mexican police, is a gold plated and engraved AK with a carved California stock.

An AK is not lovely, but can have a mechanical and historical beauty.
THIS one.... does not. It has nothing but shininess.

Perhaps it serves a tacticool purpose in a burning Mexican sun, blinding ones foes. No wonder they wear sunglasses. You'd need welders goggles with this thing!; 5:59 AM
