Ugly Gun Sunday

On proud display by the Mexican police, is a gold plated and engraved AK with a carved California stock.

Hat tip to Steve.

  1. I'm not sure what to say, or if anything should be said.
What is it in the mind of man that seeks that kind of adornment?
An AK is not lovely, but can have a mechanical and historical beauty.
THIS one.... does not. It has nothing but shininess.

Perhaps it serves a tacticool purpose in a burning Mexican sun, blinding ones foes. No wonder they wear sunglasses. You'd need welders goggles with this thing!

    Looks like rattle-can Rust-oleum to me... :)

Well, if that is what the government says the gunshops are selling to the drug cartels, I say I'm glad it is out of this country!

  5. At first, I thought it was from Saddam's collection - bad taste knows no borders!

And is the stock compliant with the California regulations?

  7. The hood ornament is what slays me.

  8. With the barrel cut down that far, and lacking the backpressure increasing muzzle device from the AKS types, would that gun even cycle?
