I need to get him a wedding present. Something nice. Something that says I respect you and trust you. Something blue. With a pony and ivory. I'm thinking in a 45 caliber.
A Nurse with a Gun

Xavier is a Registered Nurse who specialized in complex wound care. He has practiced for over fourteen years in his community. He often provided nursing service in areas where law enforcement refused to enter without back-up. Xavier now works in surgery. Xavier has been an avid shooter for over 30 years. He strongly supports the 2nd Amendment, opposes gun control of any sort, and carries a weapon 24 hours a day. Xavier is known on various internet gun forums as XavierBreath. He is married with three children, and is moderated by an apathetic one eyed cat, a goofy Golden Retriever, and a stalwart German Shepherd Dog. One day, he hopes to be deserving of them all.

4. Be sure of your target and what lies beyond it
The Five Rules of Concealed Carry

Congratulations to you and yours on the new team-mate. Seriously.
My daughters arent marrying-high yet, but I hope and pray they will make good choices. I can tell from your response that your daughter's choice has your respect.
As for a 1911 with ivories - if that's not a good way to welcome a son-in-law to the family, I cannot think of a better one.

Xavier,
When I met my daughter-in-law for the first time, I was very nearly "Sired" to capacity. She was a beautiful girl and is now a beautiful woman and is every bit a nearly perfect match for my son. I've said at least a couple of times at least that, "He couldn't have done better if I'd picked her myself..."
I'm glad for you and hope they will be truly happy together; my best wishes to the happy couple.
Congratulations!
I wish my FIL thought like you when he was alive. A daughter AND Colt. He's making out like a bandit.
Classy man, very classy. That's one of those heirloom gifts that your great-great grandsons will talk about. Congratulations!
congratulations!
Congratulations!
It'd also be nice if you found a good instructor and/or a couple of introductory classes for him near where they're going to live.
Congratulations.
Congratulations.
Methinks you'll be a great father-in-law.
Mazel Tov !!!!! on the impending nuptuals. And that colt is mighty purty. Just make sure the grips are ivory and not pearl. It was Gen. George S. Patton, Jr. who said real grips are ivory because a pearl-handled pistol is fit only for a New Orleans whore house pimp.
A very good decision. Especially for one of like mind and who (hopefully) knows how to use it.
Congrats! I certainly would love such a gift, don't see why future son-in-law wouldn't.
My Father-in-law gave me one of my first guns.
It meant even more to me given that my own father is very anti-gun and I always am envious of other gunnies talking about Father-and-Son gunnie moments, that I never had.
I am deeply impressed. I am sure that the young man will also be. I can see that you are deeply impressed with him.
A fine job you've don raising your daughter.
Congratulations! I know I'd LOVE to get a gift like that from my father-in-law.

Congratulations. My son in law to be was interested in 9mm. My only concern to my daughter was..."he treat you right?" "Yes Dad." Well that took care of that. God bless you all.
Congratulations - My son-in-law got a CZ40B (couldn't afford the colt at the time) and later on a Remmi 870.
Together we're looking for a nice little 22 for out latest grand-boy so we can have it broken in for him when he gets old enough to start shooting--least ways that's the excuse we're giving the wives.
You are an awesome father-in-law. What a beautiful pistol.
That is a beautiful gun.
Very nice! My father in law wanted me to have a bullet but not the gun.
Congratulations! All the best for your daughter for this happy news.

Congratulations, and great idea, an heirloom that really "gets" the idea that now its HIS job to watch out for your little girl (or at least to watch her back) and that you respect him and trust him implicitly with that holy task. Case it with a gold nib fountain pen for her though. She will be watching his back as well remember. I just wish we were close enough friends to be invited to the party! Nobody cooks like Cajuns. The best of best wishes regardless to all!
Mazal Tov. I got a set of the Talmud but have rather have gotten something in 45 caliber too ;)
Congratultions to your daughter and soon to be son in law.
You may want to throw in a .22 conversion so they can afford to practice.
all I got was permission to marry the woman that would soon become my ex-wife. Ben seems to have fared much, much better.
Matched pair?

Congrats X, but never, I mean NEVER give a son in law a weapon..
I'm very late to this party, but congratulations, Xavier, on your daughter's engagement to a man you respect.
I have 2 daughters and I'm stealing that idea, something with a pony and ivory grips, in .45. Yup, that sounds just about right.

This isn't the actual pistol, just a representation of what is on the way.....
