NUGUN said it well. Lets not be too quick to condemn the man who may have had to make the most horrendous decision of his life.

I've noticed in a number of self-defense/shooting cases how quickly some will leap to condemn the actions of an individual. While I didn't see a lot of talk in the gun blogosphere. Most of the comments from the general sheeple on the various articles seem to demonize the guy.

Sadly, I think part of it stems from the urban philosophy that guns are evil, rather than the realization that guns are merely tools. And are not evil unless they are possessed by evil hands.

Who knows who might be alive because of this father's action. He might be alive, albeit I am sure he is growning in his spirit wishing to God he was the one dead instead. The woman is alive, and who is to say she would have been if the younger Caldwell's rampage had not been ended.; 12:53 AM

I've always rejected my Dad's philosophy that said, "You've made your bed, now sleep in it" but, as in this case, sometimes it is true. What has been done cannot be undone.

meh said...: At close range he was able to get close to his son. Were it my son I would rather take the beating or be in a fight with him than to shoot him. But had I chosen to pull a gun I would not shoot to kill right away.; 6:25 AM
