  1. "You'd do the same if you thought they were going to kill you, right?"

    Right, brother, right on!

  2. why wouldn't the intruder be charged with attempted murder in addition to burglary?

  4. No attempted murder for the Goblin?

Hard to imagine that charge being ignored with that dint in the old man's mellon!

Glad he's OK. And this is why we need to have civilian ownership of firearms. A handicapped old man vs. a young thug with no cops in sight, a gun is the ONLY thing that saved his life.

  5. And this is why firearms are a civil right.
Without a firearm, able-bodied thugs have geezers, smaller/weaker women, and the handicapped at their mercy.

For anyone thinking of defending the criminal (it happens all too often) with some cry of "misguided youth" or "desperate poverty" remember that in a society without weaponry the weak are at the mercy of the strong, and attempted robberies like this would be far more common and successful.

  8. [sarcasm, but not too much]
Jeez, you have to be a pretty crummy criminal to get beat up and shot by a 76 year old man with Parkinson's Disease!
    [/sarcasam]

On a serious note, good for this gentleman. I would have done nothing different. I would have shot until the threat was neutralized if at any point I felt my life was in danger.

Very unlikely charges will be filed? Why is this even being considered or mentioned? Insanity.

  10. Weerrd: Even King county ( Seattle ) ain't that bad.

OR and WA are Blue states because a bunch of Cal'tards moved up here. Most of the laws in place already are strictly Old West. Burglars don't get to sue people for shooting their asses off.

They don't have a two thirds majority yet, so the Cal'tardation is only turned up to medium.

  11. Chris: That's the point to having a firearm: If a 300 lb. martial artist attacks a 74 year old cripple, and stops a bullet ... he loses the fight.

Most of us are too old to take an ass-kicking, so we buy guns instead.

  12. Kristopher -

This I realize and the giving those who lack the ability to defend themselves the ability to do so is one of the many reasons I am a huge proponent of the 2A. My comment was merely in reference to the criminal's foiled attempt and was in jest. If I were a young criminal in reasonably good shape and I couldn't subdue an elderly victim, as in this case, I'd say I was a pretty crappy criminal. That's all I was getting at. This criminal is scum and it is appalling that he is only being charged with B&E.

I am 22 and I am in decent shape, and know that there will always be someone bigger, faster, stronger. Hell even I am too old to take an ass-whupping!

  13. It sickens me that they are ONLY charging the man with burglary! He bashed in the elderly man's head! That is some serious stitch work he has there! Why is the attacker not being charged with assault in the least?! I do not care if he is transient. Lock the man up and throw away the key!!

  14. I am sickened that all the attacker gets is burglary! Really?! This man bashes in an elderly man's head and he does not get assault added on?! They need to lock this man up and throw away the key!

I am so glad Vern had the gun to defend himself. Otherwise he wold sadly be just another statistic.

Defending myself and my family is my right and one I am not willing to give up on.

  15. This may seem like a bloodthirsty comment to some, but I wish Mr. Grant had either been a better shot or shot him more. A charge of burglary? That guy will be out again before long.

And he will probably try to do it again. If Mr. Grant had successfully put this guy down like the rabid weasel he is, there would be no possibility that said weasel would EVER do this to someone else.

  16. Went back to King5 to see about charges. Seems that he called his neighbor for help and the neighbor also shot the perp. Really bad day for a burglar.
