Xavier is a Registered Nurse who specialized in complex wound care. He has practiced for over fourteen years in his community. He often provided nursing service in areas where law enforcement refused to enter without back-up. Xavier now works in surgery. Xavier has been an avid shooter for over 30 years. He strongly supports the 2nd Amendment, opposes gun control of any sort, and carries a weapon 24 hours a day. Xavier is known on various internet gun forums as XavierBreath. He is married with three children, and is moderated by an apathetic one eyed cat, a goofy Golden Retriever, and a stalwart German Shepherd Dog. One day, he hopes to be deserving of them all.

The Four Rules
1. All firearms are always loaded
2. Never let the muzzle of a firearm point at anything you are not willing to destroy
3. Keep your finger off the trigger until you are ready to shoot
4. Be sure of your target and what lies beyond it
The Five Rules of Concealed Carry
1. Your concealed handgun is for protection of life only.
2. Know exactly when you can use your gun.
3. If you can run away -- RUN!
4. Display your gun, be prepared to go to jail.
5. Don't let your emotions get the best of you.

I was expecting a less balanced presentation from CNN. At least one commentor was included as saying he was surprised to know one of his students was carrying a gun, yet admitted to feeling safer. The concept will take some getting used to for many people on campuses, however I would think that over time it would be difficult to argue the data that will likely show less violent crimes occurring on the nations campuses.
Thanks for posting that Xavier, this issue will need all the positive exposure it can get.
I'm not sure how many colleges and universities there are in the United States, but none I'm aware of outside Utah are in states which permit concealed carry on campus, or have school administrations which permit it (as in Virginia Tech).
So, it shouldn't be much of a problem for either the instructor or student interviewed who felt guns shouldn't be permitted on campus to find an institution of higher learning which agreed with them so they could go there instead.
"At least one commentor was included as saying he was surprised to know one of his students was carrying a gun, yet admitted to feeling safer."
But of course he was followed by the woman in the headscarf seeking a universal ban on guns on campus (hmmm, I wonder why).
And considering that the Dean or whatever Barbara's title is seems like she used to be named Bob, there was no surprise that she/he called guns on campus "stupid". I call her/him/it vapid instead.
Perhaps a scabbard attached to every classroom desk with a rule that students fill it during class with a longarm would be a good idea in addition to concealed carry.
I'm in no mood for these sheep tonight.

Go Utah! Now if we can get that nationwide, and for school teachers, and laws making it illegal for businesses to fire people for locking their weapons in their cars.....
Wow...I'm really surprised and pleased with this news report especially since it's coming from CNN. Props to this lady. She should give a few tips to Rebecca Aguilar.
Was anybody else amazed at the amount of smugness dripping from that one lady's mouth. She even looked up and away from the camera while talking as if to say "I'm on such a superior intellectual level, I don't know why I'm even talking to you." Amazing. If you are going to tell a huge number of people that their ideas are stupid, at least have the guts and decency to look us in the eye in the process.
Anyway, I just found out about this last night, via this Blog (thanks, Xavier) and I immediately contacted the head of our public safety office to see if I would be arrested or expelled for participating. Either way I will be getting the message out, as if they don't allow a peaceful protest like this to take place on the campus, I'll be raising a stink about how the university doesn't REALLY support diversity/free exchange of ideas and so forth. Wish me luck, I guess.

P.S. If this goes sour, does anybody know a good place to go to drum up support for my cause?
First point: Professor Nash is no "lady:" http://www.sa.utah.edu/lgbt/about/board.htm
Thus, it's unsurprising that s/he thinks the world is supposed to run according to "her" ideas, regardless of how counter they run to commonly-held common sense beliefs...
Second point: Where's the downside of campus concealed carry? We've already seen the problems (and the body count) caused by "gun-free" school zones...
Yes, I notice from her department web site Professor Nash forgot to have her Adam's apple shaved down. Oh well, stupidity knows no gender.
Yeah, I noticed the Adam's apple, too. Male/female/shemale/whatever, he/she/it is dag stupid.
I love how the other supportive voice for gun ban on campus was an oppressed woman who had to cover her whorish female head with a scarf because the males of her religion can't handle it. Irony, that.
As far as GLBT goes, don't forget Pink Pistols is a great RKBA group.
I'd love to see Barbara/Bob debate someone from Pink Pistols...
