The Delta Elite is Back!
News from SHOT 2009 is that the Delta Elite is back, and will be produced as it was originally designed. Colt is still planning on putting out a bushingless enhanced version, but who gives a damn when the original can be had?
Also being displayed by Colt is an enhanced stainless 1911 with an integral rail and a fitted beavertail grip safety. This pistol has been given the unfortunate moniker "Colt Rail Gun." At least they did not name it after a reptile or a hooved mammal. A 22 Long Rifle AR is being shown by Smith & Wesson, and rumored about by Colt.

How does the grip on a Delta Elite compare to a .45 ACP 1911? Is the extra 2 mm length of the 10 mm cartridge noticeable?
I'd like to buy one.
As long as Colt doesn't install some kind of self-locking device in it.
:(
They can call it "Enhanced", but in 1995 I bought an "Enhanced" gov't model. The enhanced features were a significant undercut at the bottom of the trigger guard, a beavertail grip safety, and a rib on the slide, similar to the Gold Cup but without the grooves. This has none of those features. What is enhaced about this?
Nice!!!
One would hope that it's not an exact replica of the original DE.
How can you tell the round count of an original Delta?
If the plastic guide rod is pristine, it's actually unfired.
If it's cracked, it's only had a box of Norma run through it.
If it's absolutely battered and trashed, it's been taken to the range two or more times.
;)

They use a regular 1911 frame. No difference.
I owned a DE back in the late 80's and I sold it for a Gov't Model.
I regret that I did do.
Tam - thanks for the answer. The only 10mm auto I've held is the Glock and that grip is huge!
do they still crack frames??
